My Writing Site is Coming Soon

I hope!

I've been pretty busy with projects both fiction and otherwise, but I'm hoping to get my new writing site up very soon, hopefully by Dragon*Con. You can see the place holder page by visiting www.jamesmpalmer.com.

I don't use my middle initial in my byline, but jamespalmer.com belongs to a real estate agent in Orlando. Oh well.

Nightmare Cafe

Back in the mid nineties there was this great and sadly short lived show that aired on NBC called The Nightmare Cafe. Produced by Wes Craven, it starred Robert Englund (Blackie), Jack Coleman (Frank) and Lindsay Frost (Faye), and combined the feel of an anthology series like the Twilight Zone with a drama's fixed cast.

It only lasted 5 or 6 episodes, thanks to a late Friday night timeslot, but you can watch the first episode on YouTube.

In this download, the poster didn't get the first few seconds of Robert Englund's intro, which is "Touch that remote and you die."

Good stuff.

I'm on the Guest List with Spock!

That's right. Leonard Nimoy is going to be a guest at this year's Dragon*Con.

Leonard. Frickin. Nimoy. I seldom get excited about the media guests, but as a longtime Star Trek fan, I am now even more excited about this year's con than usual, if such a thing is possible.

Oh, and you can also find me there. You can find my guest bio here.

I'll Be a Guest at Dragon*Con!

I'm pleased to announce that I will once again be a guest at Dragon*Con. It's held every Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.

It's largely a media con, but they always have programming tracks for writers and science fiction and fantasy literature, and some amazing author guests.

I hope to see you there!

Sci-Fi Buzz on YouTube

Back in the early years of the Sci Fi Channel, before the horror "Sci Fi Original Movie" was a gleam in Bonnie Hammer's eye, there was a great show called Sci Fi Buzz, hosted by Mike Jerrick. It had great reviews of science fiction movies, books, and television, great interviews with authors, and commentary by Harlan Ellison.

Well now, thanks to YouTube, you can see some of these old segments. Like this one above on the Orlando convention MegaCon.

Robert E. Howard Days 2009

If you're making summer travel plans, why not plan a trip to Cross Plains, Texas for this year's Robert E. Howard Days Festival?

I can't go this year, but that doesn't mean I want anyone else to miss out on the fun. Check it out.

Pulp Fiction for a New Generation

I'm pleased as punch to be writing for Airship 27 Productions, about which I'll share more later. For now, here's a video of Airship 27 founder Ron Fortier on his mission to bring back classic pulp. Enjoy.

I'm Writing an Intro to Warlord of Mars

I'm writing the introduction to a forthcoming edition of Warlord of Mars, part of the classic John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It's being published by my friend Van Allen Plexico under his White Rocket Books imprint, and I'm honored to be doing it.

You can learn more about the John Carter books Van is publishing here.
